This can be done at any level, there are no specific requirements. Although the higher level you are, the higher level equipment you can farm and the more rare and valuable materials you can obtain. Although this guide is specifically targeting how to farm purple items and get rare Forge materials, the items you farm can instead be sold or give at the Shrine to level up.

How To Farm Purple Items And Exotic Forge Materials In Nioh

To maximize the amount of items you can farm this technique is best done with a friend. If you want to play with friends in Nioh you’ll both need to complete a mission and then go to the Torii Gate. Select your mission and team up to start the mission together.

The crucial element here is the mission you choose and it varies depending on your location and level. In the earlier stages you won’t need to farm too much. You can get most of the powerful armor sets relatively easily but later down the line, you’ll need lots of rare resources to improve gear and use features such as Soul Match & Reforge.

You want to choose a mission that is relatively short, typically a Sub Mission as these are quicker, less confusing and faster to finish. For example, in the Tokai Region we used The Okehazama Incident Sub Mission but any slightly challenging mission will do.

You are looking for Revenants. The swords on the ground you can interact with to summon other players. You can get a quick glance at their equipment before summoning, ideally you want to target those with 50% of their equipment being purple. Most of the Revenants you summon can be killed in 1-2 hits using a Sloth scroll and Guardian Spirit Talisman (if you’re using one of the powerful Guardian Spirits).

Make sure to equip any items/accessories that have +% to drop rate as this can help. There’s also a Luckbringer Talisman you can craft. The idea is to farm Revenants constantly and then finish the mission off, focusing on higher level ones with Purple + gear. In about 20-30 minutes you can have 100+ Purple items and nearly 1,000,000 Amrita to level up with.

Some of the Exotic materials you can gather through this method include:

  • Tamahagane
  • Wood
  • Ingot
  • Lacquer
  • Spirit Iron Chunk
  • Spirit Iron Fragments
  • And More
The Kodama make a return in the DLC for Nioh, Dragon Of The North. There are 25 in total and some are easy to find while others can be very difficult to spot. Check out this guide to find them all in the Tohoku Region.
